Question: Will I have a great retirement just saving my money or do I really need to invest my money in a Vanguard2050?
I am 27. I am thinking of putting my money back into Vanguard 2050 ($ 1,000) 30 years horizon fund and in Vanguard Lifestyle Moderate Growth fund ($ 3,000) 15 years horizon. I heart a lot the dollar will be worthless and I should buy Gold/Silver, but then I hear to invest in the stock Market, then I hear just save or put money in CDs, which one and why? I have 4k in ROTH IRA MMSA, 15k in CDs earning 2 to 3%. I hear the Gov is corrupted and the Elites are in control with Obama the puppet. Your opinions? Etc?
Answer:
Target date funds are a good idea in theory, much better than cds or metals. If you are not interested in doing lots of research, and are risk averse, then the target date plan is a good one.
IGNORE all the gibberish about Obama, elites, and other noise. it is just that and has no bearing on any individual?s own decisions. If you let it influence you, then you lose.
I am 38. At 27, I was saving a lot and ready to buy my first home with 20% down, and ready to have a first child.
Think big picture about your future. Imagine how you want to see it, and put all your energy, money and power towards creating it. If you just curl up and act in a risk averse manner, you will be sad in 10 or 20 years when you are nowhere further ahead. if you lose everything, no worries, you are young and healthy, and can just repeat the exercise (just like a ?do-over? in kid games).
